An H110 board should function well with the 6th generation Intel chips. PCPartPicker confirms this. The CPU is an Intel Core i7-6700 at 3.4 GHz with four cores, priced around $349.99 at B&H. The motherboard is an MSI H110M PRO-D Micro ATX LGA1151, costing about $349.99 overall. Shipping, taxes, and any available discounts are included in the price. This listing was generated by PCPartPicker on March 30, 2020.

I originally intended to use an old HP 6700 CPU, but after purchasing the board it failed to function. It turns out the CPU has died, so my goal is now to acquire a replacement and verify if the board will work.

The 6700 offers poor value; you might want to explore other options. What is your budget? Edited March 30, 2020 by Fasauceome

I’m thinking about spending about $300 on a CPU compatible with your H110 board. If that doesn’t work, you can return it and get $500 for a CPU and board. I’ve also got an 1660 Super on the way.

A $500 CAD package for a solid CPU and motherboard setup: PCPartPicker lists the parts with pricing. The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-core chip costs $278.05 on Vuugo, paired with the MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX Micro ATX AM4 board for $111.99 at Mike's Computer Shop. Memory includes G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 sticks for $94.99 from Newegg Canada. All costs—shipping, taxes, rebates, discounts—total $485.03. This selection offers high performance within budget. A 6700 would be great if available, but the 3600 provides better value for similar price.
