H100i GTX and Storm Trooper cases
H100i GTX and Storm Trooper cases
Just a brief inquiry—my components for constructing my rig are en route. One issue I have is that fitting the Corsair Hydro H100i will require taking out the 200mm exhaust fan at the top, doesn’t this undermine the cooling purpose of having a fan? Do all large water coolers typically need a fan removed? Should I consider changing the case? Thanks.
previously there was a good selection of cases, it's a really solid one.
don't stress about it once you have it; you'll notice at the top that there are grilled and open spaces allowing hot air to escape even without the top fan.
you won't believe what I saw, it had a Swifttech watercooler inside and the temperature was fine. It's okay to have to take out some fans when fitting an AIO watercooler or a radiator.
You're concerned about losing a fan. What setup would you suggest after removing the top exhaust? Options include 2 front intakes, 2 bottom intakes, 2 side exhausts, or 1 rear exhaust. Regarding the H100i fans, they blow into the radiator and out of the case—this is unfamiliar to me. I bought extra fans for the Stormtrooper model. You can find them on Amazon. Should I replace the front two and rear one? If yes, what should be your choices?
i had
2 front intake
2 side intake--this aims cooler air towards your graphics card
1 rear exhaust
2 top on the watercooler intake
gives positive air pressure and pushes warm air out of the grilled areas i mentioned earlier
and theres a great big open area under the handle where warm air will just rise out of
i had a 2600k in there running at 5ghz with absolutely no temperature issues
replacing the stock fans makes sense—it's the only thing I could criticize in that case if I were very particular.
those corsairs also seem okay to swap out.
Yes, you also took off the top fan, and it no longer fits properly. The exhaust fans seem to blow air upward from the top of the case. It’s possible to manage all seven fans individually through the case itself, or you might need a separate fan controller if needed.
