Amidst the updates and discussions about GW2 shifting to F2P with restrictions and the upcoming HoT release in October, many players are still active while others are just beginning. My friend and I recently returned after a long hiatus, and it's interesting to notice how many Commander tags have emerged now compared to before. We've started fresh Guardians, expanding them to 80 to get familiar with the new mechanics—though it wasn't overly challenging. Adapting to the updated abilities and traits was part of the process. Curiously, for longtime players or newcomers, what class do you prefer, and are you excited about the Revenant? From what I've observed, they offer a solid PvP/WvW option, especially during Beta Weekends.

I began playing the moment it switched to free-to-play, remained curious about the game yet hesitated to spend 60 dollars. Spent time mastering the necromancer until around level 15, after which my interest faded.

I began just a few days ago. It's quite enjoyable, not too much of a hassle, even when it comes to making weapons.

Received payment of $60 at the end of 2012, played for about a week, and never recovered its value.

After learning it would become free to play, I paused and gave myself a high-five for saving 50EU on the HoT expansion.

On my phone, I can't quote anything; Necro is one of those GW2 classes that not everyone masters easily—it's not the best starting point. Consider trying a Warrior or Guardian instead? Their melee and ranged skills make them quite enjoyable! Crafting weapons through gatherings can feel a bit repetitive, but it’s actually an effective method for leveling up and rewards experience nicely. Most players usually tackle this during their second run-through. It’s simpler to purchase items at the trading post initially.

I received a 20€ discount in a promotion back in 2013. It was enjoyable, required three characters to reach level 80, but I became bored once I got used to the tasks needed for top armor and weapons. Still, I had a great time and spent only 20€, making it more than worth it.

I'd choose it only if my system wasn't a dual-core mobile i5 with a GT525M processor.

Looking at the cost versus time invested, I’m not complaining at all. I’ve logged well over 1.5k hours. The shift to free-to-play with full-price HoT for returning players is a bit disappointing. A discount model would have been better, but if it delivers fresh content, I’m willing to pay.

I've been enjoying the game since its launch, with a strong build of Thief, Ranger, and Warrior classes. Mostly I focus on PvP or jumping puzzles. Occasionally I try WvW, but it feels a bit dull and lacks excitement beyond the Zerg encounters. I'm unsure if I'll get HoT since I don't play much PvE.
