We and my brother @OP purchased GW2 shortly after its release, but it quickly became monotonous. WoW offers a more satisfying experience with richer combat and deeper interactions. GW2 feels restrictive, forcing you to avoid direct dialogue with characters and offering a visually appealing but unengaging world. I started as a human and reaching level 40 was tough—each centaur I defeated drained my health rapidly.
Absolutely, that's understandable. I mainly avoid WOW since it's too slow and my university schedule limits my availability, which is why I prefer Runescape instead.
It's mainly due to bankstanding. I need to focus more on university studies, especially now that I'm entering my final year, haha.
I also tried to play when the game launched (about a week after it came out). I spent roughly two weeks getting involved and then stopped because I wasn’t sure what options were available. I returned 2-3 weeks ago and have already logged around 200 hours—meaning I was actively playing, not just sitting around. I haven’t played PvP or WvW except to get a feel for the game. The leveling process in Guild Wars 2 isn’t about grinding everything; it’s about completing maps, finishing story missions, and gathering materials for crafting. In about eight hours of playtime, I can upgrade a new character to a full level 25 by focusing on story missions and exploration. If you only spent 30 minutes watching Angry Joe’s review, he covers every aspect of the game—from PvE to PvP and WvW. He explains the leveling system, combat, dungeons, and even compares it to World of Warcraft, noting that GW2 has stronger combat. Sorry, but just because you played on launch day and haven’t played in two years doesn’t mean you should dismiss the game based on that. MMOs have changed a lot. Guild Wars 2 is now a completely different experience than when it first debuted. @leelaa14 If you prefer World of Warcraft, go for it. But always check recent reviews before deciding. Even though Angry Joe’s review is old, he touches on the core features and improvements in GW2. Some of his concerns have already been addressed. Also remember, you’ll pay monthly for WoW, while GW2 is a one-time purchase—your money stays with you.
