Guidelines for buying a laptop
Guidelines for buying a laptop
Hello,
I’m a college dropout with a commerce background. I’m looking to work on freelance projects and want to pursue a career as a 3D artist. I need a laptop right away, but my budget is limited to around $350. I understand that a big investment is usually required to meet industry standards.
I’m considering starting with a standard laptop that can be upgraded later, allowing me to adapt as my needs grow. I’m seeking a model that offers flexibility—such as the ability to add RAM, storage, and even an external graphics card. I’m doing my research and would really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

Sorry to hear that.

Which apps will help me reach that goal? You’ll need suitable hardware for those tools.
My budget is limited ($350).
It seems you probably won’t find much that’s really valuable for your objectives.
I’m considering starting with a basic laptop that can be upgraded later, so I can adjust as needed.
Unfortunately, this approach has its limits—today you can only upgrade RAM and storage, not the processor or GPU. Without a dedicated GPU, the performance gains from upgrades will be minimal.
In short, you might need to increase your budget to around $1,000 or more for a powerful machine.
