Guide to understanding the pin layout on motherboard cases
Hey everyone, I'm working on my first NAS and running into a problem linking the Power Button on the case to my motherboard. I found a PDF manual for my Fujitsu D3642-B12 GS 1, but the pin layout in it seems different from what's on my actual board. Did Fujitsu just flip the pin diagram upside down so it matches when I turn the board around? I've attached a photo of my board and the manual to help clarify. Updated September 29, 2025 by lxkas19
It seems like you're trying to troubleshoot a device that's upside down. You're suggesting testing the power connection carefully, connecting the power button in an unconventional way, and verifying the setup with a screwdriver test to ensure everything functions correctly without causing damage.
The power switch is those blue emphasized pins. Verify by connecting them together
You can ask here about it. A new topic might be better if you need more context.
Just ask here since it's a YOU issue thread (may even be related without realizing it). Anything you got, ask. We're all here just hanging out
After determining the pinout, the setup is working as expected except for a few concerns. The hardware you're using includes an i3 8100, Fujitsu Q370, and other components. The PC boots normally but fails to display on your monitor. You've tested DVI, DisplayPort, multiple screens, different RAM slots, and even used only one RAM slot at a time. The GPU operates perfectly in your previous system, so it's likely not the graphics card.
Interesting observation: mainboard ports are functioning but not powering up the system—only when you connect a LAN cable does a green indicator appear. The GPU has no PCIe power connectors yet spins up fine, suggesting power is reaching it. You can't access Unraid even with both USB and LAN cables connected, which hints at possible mainboard port issues. Keyboard input also doesn't work in any port.
When you flip the PSU switch, the PC starts up automatically, briefly shutting down before restarting. The CPU socket shows no bend pins. All connections seem correct. If you have any additional details or need further help, let me know.
We're verifying the POST confirmation. Also, do you have the internal speaker or buzzer set up for audible feedback?
Hey everyone, sorry for the delayed update on my problem. There were some personal issues that got in the way. I finally identified the cause, which turned out to be a simple oversight. I bought 16GB DDR4 RAM but didn’t verify if it was ECC-registered. Luckily, I found a non-ECC RAM and it’s now functioning properly. Thanks to all the support!
