I own an EVGA 3080 FTW3 that won't boot. The intention was to swap in a 1080 Ti for the 3080, but both are already installed so I can test things out. HWINFO and GPU-Z display the 3080, yet their readings seem unreliable. I've tried flipping the BIOS settings without success. Attached are screenshots from HWINFO and GPU-Z showing both cards. I performed a visual inspection for any unusual emissions but found nothing. Removed the protective cover and checked—still no obvious issues. I also re-flashed the BIOS, but the captures came through after that. Any ideas?

It seems the BIOS on the 3080 had some problems initially. A similar issue popped up with a 3050, which looked identical in hwinfo until you flashed the BIOS manually via EEPROM. Try updating to the newest BIOS for that card and see if it resolves the problem.

It seems the BIOS on the 3080 had some problems initially. A similar issue popped up with a 3050, which looked identical in hwinfo until you flashed the BIOS manually via EEPROM. Try updating to the newest BIOS for that card and see if it resolves the problem.

GPUz notes that the vBIOS on the 3080 matches the one on the 1080Ti. The incorrect vBIOS was installed on the 3080.

I've never experienced this before. I purchased it for $100 thinking it would work, but it didn't power on at all. The PSU is rated at 1000W. I've used nvflash to update the BIOS without any changes. It seems the BIOS versions were identical for both the 1080 and 3080 models, except for some suspected data. I'll review nvflash to check what it reports about the BIOS version.

The BIOS seems intended for an Asus 1080Ti. It also suggests values matching that model, like the 3080 GPU clock and memory settings. You used NVflash incorrectly—restarting with the original vBIOS from the card should fix it. The original issue was likely a configuration mismatch.

The computer bios error code was B2. It was showing the 1080 bios before I flashed it. It has a physical switch that I can use to go between two bioses on the board and I only flashed one of them. It doesn't matter which one I pick it shows the 1080 information. I will try and pull the bioses from both cards and compare. That will at least tell me if nvflash was successful. If it wasn't, then I will look into how to manually burn the bios. Thanks for the inputs.

What stands out is the Image Hash (N/A). After flashing GPU-Z, the updated bios appeared, but after reboot it showed the 1080 version. I suspect a problem with the card preventing full functionality. I've tried other BIOSes without success. I believe it's time to disassemble and inspect the board thoroughly. Before doing that, a question: does manually flashing BIOS with an EEPROM behave differently than nvflash?
