Hello, I recently changed my quite outdated system (i5 7500, 1060 6gb.) to a new setup. I’m using the Lian-Li LANCOOL 216 Mid-Tower with tempered glass, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Tray, and several other components. I’m still in the same gaming phase from ten years ago, except for a brief experience with Metro Exodus in 2019. I’m curious about dlss/dlaa/reflex/FG settings and how they apply. Can these be used with older systems like Skyrim? Also, what games have been popular over the past decade? I tend to stick to familiar titles since my current hardware is quite old.

Why did you opt for a cheaper PSU?
FG stands for Frame Gen., DLSS is Deep Learning Super Sampling, and DLAA is Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing.
Reflex from NVIDIA is a GPU feature that aligns CPU and GPU operations to cut down system lag in PC games, resulting in quicker and smoother performance.
These options are generally considered tricks to enhance visuals or boost frame rates, such as frame generation. You can search online for more details.
That's a matter of opinion.
To help narrow it down, please share the type of games you enjoy playing.

For a few reasons, including the RAM prices, PSU's also rose sharply in my area. I came across this on sale for around 85 dollars (after adjusting for currency), and according to the review here, it's stable—it's a Seasonic after all, which I considered somewhat trustworthy. The only downside is the absence of active fan control. For gaming, RPGs are my main interest, as long as they offer a solo experience. I also enjoy roguelikes and light games.

When you have money to afford $400 CPU and $750 GPU, then you can not say that you didn't have enough money for proper PSU.
Just because it is Seasonic, doesn't mean it is good. All PSU brands offer poor PSUs. E.g Seasonic A12 and S12III are complete crap.
Yeah, No.
Sleeve bearing fan (the worst bearing there is), subpar transient performance of +3.3V rail, aggressive fan profile and fan will be loud when PSU is pushed.
What you have, is a low quality PSU.
For 2nd opinion about your PSU, look it up from PSU Tier list,
link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JW...1973454078
You'll find it to be Tier C+.
For proper PSU for a PC with dedicated GPU, Tier A is proper. Like: Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium.
Tier A- will do too, while Tier A+ is preferred.
(My 2x PCs are solely powered by Tier A+ PSUs. I have Seasonic PRIME 650 Titanium (Tier A+) and Seasonic PRIME Ultra 650 Titanium (Tier A+) units. Specs/pics in my sig.)
And Tier A unit is the one you should be running with your new and expensive build. Not low quality unit, that isn't even good enough for an office PC without dedicated GPU, let alone for high-end gaming rig. So, return Core GX-850 and go with much better unit. E.g PRIME TX-850.
🤔
Found this video compilation of good solo RPG games;
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpQuSqJaqrw
Out of those i have Cyberpunk 2077 but haven't found time to play it yet. Oh, Deus Ex series is also great RPG-esque games. Even my forum avatar is from Deus Ex series.
Have played all, except the latest installment; Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Have it as well but again, haven't found time to play it yet. And Hogwarts: Legacy too (again, have it but need to upgrade GPU before i can play it).
While i do like RPG games myself, those are massive time sinkers and lately, i don't have time to invest 1000+ gameplay hours in a single game. But i still keep myself busy with simulation and small indie titles. Survival/crafting games too.
If survival/crafting is also to your likening, then: State of Decay 2, Subnautica, Subnautica: Below Zero, 7 Days 2 Die, Voidtrain, Forever Skies, The Last Caretaker (currently in early access but has free demo to play), Breathedge, The Solus Project, Astroneer ... and can't recall more right now.
Solo-player wise, found this list as well:
https://www.techradar.com/best/best-single-player-games
Btw, i don't play AA or AAA titles. Instead, i prefer indie titles. More "soul" in the game this way.
Edit:
If so, then: Dust&Neon, Replikator, Pacific Drive (great game), Vampire Survivors (another great game).
These are small, indie titles, that i've found enjoyable.

Thank you for the assistance, sir. I returned the PSU and God the 850 watt focus one; they also chose to replace the RAM with the same specifications, Viper one, because I found a sale that was 120 less than the Kingston.

Here are the games I thought you'd enjoy:
Tomb Raider series – all three were really fun with a great story and gameplay.
The Callisto Protocol – if you liked Dead Space, you'll probably like this too.
Dishonored series – a unique world and universe; I’m sure I’ll play them again later.
Dying Light – perfect for fans of zombie games. I haven’t played the later two yet, but the first one was solid.
The Last of Us series – I can only say it’s a MASTERPIECE!
Mad Max – it’s an older title, but if you haven’t tried it before, I strongly suggest giving it a go.
Hitman Absolution – another classic, great if you enjoy stealth games.
Middle-Earth series
Ryse: Son of Rome – the best game about Rome, in my opinion.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – if you like games like Skyrim, you’ll love this.
Watch_Dogs and Watch_Dogs 2 – skip the third (Legion).
F.E.A.R. 3
Ghost Recon Breakpoint – if you like shooters and military action.
Far Cry series
God of War

It seems you're considering rendering at 1440p and then downscaling to 1080p, rather than keeping the original 1080p resolution. This is likely due to your current setup on a 1080 monitor.

When OP replies to their own topic, then necro rule doesn't apply.
Unless you want to put far higher load on GPU, i see no other benefit/downside for that.
Or in other words, it is pointless. Better run 1080p native. Less work for GPU this way.
