Guide for AsRock DeskMini x600 – Overclocking and Undervolting Tips
Hello! Your system is set up with an AsRock Deskmini X600, Ryzen 5 8600G, and a high-speed DDR5 RAM. You're aiming to fine-tune the BIOS for stability and performance, possibly by adjusting voltage and enabling overclocking. Before updating the BIOS via USB, check the attached screenshots to understand the current settings and any warnings. Once you're ready, proceed with the update carefully following the instructions in the images.
Are you utilizing the stock cooler and power source? The 8600G in stock seems to be straining under that configuration, especially in the Deskmeet builds (LGA1700 and AM5). Both required a power supply replacement to SFF, which improved performance more than simply using a better cooler. I also thoroughly tested the modified power supply. Unless you're running it without a GPU and using a 120mm AIO with the dedicated fan slot, you might be able to push it to its limits.
PSU is stock, cooler is low-profile NHL9. Should I recommend a specific RAM overclock profile?
RAM overclocking involves either applying an XMP/EXPO profile or adjusting the timing settings yourself. The NHL9 tends to perform worse than a standard cooler in this configuration. The main drawback of the Deskmeet is its power supply, which occupies a large portion of the internal space. This compact design in SFF models is significant enough to suggest replacing the PSU before installing a regular cooler. Both the LGA1700 and AM5 builds I've assembled in this case faced these challenges. My LGA1700 setup worked until upgrading from an Arc A380 to an RX 6600, which required drilling a hole above the GPU for airflow. For the AM5 model, I experimented with different CPU coolers and configurations before settling on a suitable PSU. I even upgraded the PSU case to enhance performance, swapped fans, and used a cooler large enough to utilize the PSU's fan as the CPU cooler. If you don<|pad|>, just install a 120mm AIO in the 120mm fan slot.
