Hey everyone, I’m a pretty experienced Intel overclocker, but I’ve never worked with AMD CPUs before. Since I’m thinking about upgrading my home setup and possibly going all-in on Team Red, I’d like to learn more about AMD’s approach. With Intel, it’s always straightforward: pick a K-series chip, pair it with a Z-series motherboard, secure the cores, adjust the multiplier, fine-tune the vCore, then check stability. Does that sound similar for AMD? I’m completely new to this and would really appreciate any YouTube or online resources. I’m planning to check out existing or upcoming X3D chips.

AMD reduces voltage lately... but it doesn't really matter for the X3D chips since they're already well-optimized. If you end up with a different chip because of current pricing, that might be worth considering.

Overclocking has been around for a while, mostly in the past. As each CPU and GPU generation comes out, the chances of getting better performance and support drop, since the parts are already built as fast as they can be, or because new tech like PBO or Intel's Turbo Boost makes it so useful that people only OC to notice a small improvement in Cinebench.

I determine the highest power the socket can supply to the CPU when running the most demanding workload I've encountered. After identifying those values, I set them as my power constraints. Then I analyze the curve and apply boost overrides to adjust my single and multi-core clock speeds.
