You need to download the drivers from the manufacturer's website. You can also install them using the DVD if you have one. If you don't have a DVD player, your laptop with a built-in DVD player should work for installation.

Collect the networking drivers, save them to a USB drive, and install them first. Once done, you’ll be able to connect to the internet and download the remaining components. Your motherboard’s manufacturer site should list all required drivers for your specific board. After reviewing the list, proceed to your component inventory.

Many unboxing clips show them simply dropping the disk, but it works better when handled that way.

You browse the internet to get installers. On most machines Ethernet can function without special drivers. If not, you'll need to install the appropriate drivers for your laptop using the method mentioned earlier. A DVD drive on the laptop won't make much difference. Only if you have drivers exclusively on discs will it help, but then you'd need to use a virtual drive which becomes very complicated for beginners.
