Hey, I can assist with that. You're looking to boost your FX-6300 on the MSI 970a G43. Expect gains in performance but be aware it's not ideal for heavy overclocking. The setup you have should work, though you'll need to follow proper steps.

The Alpine 64 GT delivers optimal cooling while reducing noise simultaneously. With its patented fan holder, it achieves only 0.25 sone of sound, delivering 70W of cooling power.
For more details, see the product page: http://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Alpine-Pro-...B002CIDIPW
The cooler is designed to handle temperatures up to 95 watts, with a safe operating limit around 62°C.

Zerk2012 suggests prioritizing a better CPU cooler over overclocking. They shared their experience achieving stable performance at 4.19 GHz and plan to increase it with a hyper 212 evo, asking about expected speeds on the current setup.

I wouldn't recommend pushing the overclock if your current cooler is sufficient. The CPU itself wasn't particularly strong even after its release, so you shouldn't anticipate much gain from overclocking either.

I wouldn't recommend pushing the CPU beyond its default settings if you already have a good cooler. The processor wasn't particularly strong even after the release, so overclocking won't yield much improvement.
My current setup is an Arctic Alpine 64 GT rev 2, and I don't have a stock cooler installed.

Zerk2012:
No need for overclocking, start with a better CPU cooler first. Thanks. I followed the linked video, stuck at a stable 4.19 GHz (not too much), and plan to push it higher when I get a hyper 212 evo. What would you expect from a stable build? How did you stress test it? Keep an eye on the temperatures closely. You might reach around 4.4, but be careful—this board isn’t a top overclocker, especially not the 970 series.

That cooler is fine, but don't go crazy with overclocking, it's an AMD chip after all. I would suggest seeing a few guides. I'm sure there are plenty.

That cooler is crap. Nothing wrong with overclocking AMD as long as you have a good board and cooler.
