I increased the overclock settings on my GTX 970 (+10mv voltage, +125 core clock, +150 memory) and it ran stably during a Furmark test for about half an hour at 1080P. When playing The Division, it crashes repeatedly, and the same happens with Arma—graphics driver stops functioning unexpectedly. Is this related to my graphics card, drivers, or something else?

The boost clock that activates automatically during gaming, when the GPU load reaches a high enough level, is around 1328mhz on the G1 gaming model. Adding +72mhz to the core when the boost starts would bring the frequency to about 1400mhz for gaming or benchmarking. That’s a solid overclock. In my view, I wouldn’t exceed that in the core and might only increase memory by 100-150. The card already performs overclocking without any extra adjustments from you.

I believe the card throttles on Furmark
Try testing your overclock in Unigine Heaven or Valley Benchmark

your psu provides important data, what exactly does it represent? also, how does it contribute to thermal stability? what temperatures are you observing after half an hour? those benchmarks are useful for checking driver stability, but ultimately real gaming performance is the true measure. if you keep failing, it seems your system isn't stable enough with that o/c.

your psu info is important, what exactly does it show? also, how can we check for thermal stability? what temperatures are you seeing after half an hour? benchmarks are useful for driver stability tests, but ultimately real gaming performance is the true measure. if you keep failing, it seems your system isn't stable with such an o/c. (another quote question, not sure how to handle) I think the card throttles are getting hot. try testing your overclock on Unigine Heaven or Valley benchmark. i’ll do those tests when I have time. my psu is around RM 650X, or maybe it’s the silver model with a gold rating.

So I increased my GTX 970 settings and it ran stably for about half an hour at 1080P on Furmark. When playing The Division it would crash, and the same happened when trying Arma – the graphics driver stopped working unexpectedly. Is this related to my graphics card, drivers, or something else?

Details -
Graphics Card - GTX 970 G1 Gaming Gigabyte
Driver version - 364.51
OS - Windows 10 Home Premium
I’m not sure if more info is needed, but if I’m mistaken, let me know and I’ll ask.

RM 650X is a great unit, no issues detected. Please set up a track for your temperatures and fine-tune your O/C as needed.

Run RealBench and 3d Mark Firestrike for testing as well to support practical use cases. If it crashes during games, your GPU probably can't handle that level of overclocking, since GPUs overclock in different ways.

Alright so I used 3D Mark firestrike to do some benchmarking here are the results at various OC's -
Stock
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/11287014?
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/11287049?
No artifacts temps at 100% were about 70 deg.
Just went onto the wit her 3 and it seems fine and so does arma... maybe its just something happened randomly.

I can't view your results, but those temperatures are okay.
