gtx 960 overclock/underclock
gtx 960 overclock/underclock
I own a Palit GTX 960 with 2GB RAM. After using Fire Strike to set factory values, which was approximately 5980, I increased the overclock slightly, boosting the core by about 250 MHz and memory clock by around 300MHz. Running Fire Strike twice gave a score near 6425. I played a game for roughly an hour and noticed clear improvements. To push performance even further, I raised the core clock to 303 MHz and memory clock to about 350 MHz above factory settings. After confirming stability with another Fire Strike run, I reduced the speeds to around 280 and 300 MHz and continued testing, which ended abruptly. I then lowered the speeds again, still maintaining core clocks over 150 MHz and memory clocks near 200 MHz. Another Fire Strike attempt yielded a score of about 3600. Eventually, I removed all overclocking and reset everything back to factory settings, but the result was significantly lower than the initial test.
Anyone know what’s going on? Could it be that my card was underclocked or damaged? I’m not sure if thermal throttling occurred since core temperatures stayed around 55°C. Please help and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom
I've resolved the issue, driver problems are fixed. Updated settings now allow a stable overclock of 200MHz core and 209MHz memory clock.
