Hi,
I'm trying to overclock my Gigabyte GTX 950 OC edition (single fan). I've used MSI Afterburner but haven't seen any improvement. I adjusted the max power and temperature settings to 118% and 95°C, even increased the clock speed by 50 MHz. The screen goes black after about 10-15 minutes, and only a restart seems to help. Could you help figure out why this isn't working?
P.S.: My PSU seems fine, I'm using a Corsair V550.

Hi,
I own a Gigabyte GTX 950 OC edition (single fan one). I'm trying to overclock it. I'm using MSI Afterburner, but the card seems unresponsive. I adjusted the max power and temperature settings to 118% and 95 degrees, even increasing the clock speed by 50 MHz. The display goes black after about 10-15 minutes, and only a restart resolves the issue. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?
P.S.: I suspect the PSU isn't the problem—I'm using a Corsair V550.
YOu lost the silicon lottery.
Consider raising the voltage by .025V (25 mV) or even 50 mV. Adding +100 seems ineffective. Is that too much? Not really, since it's already overclocked and not a high-end card. It feels more like an entry-level budget model.
That "entry level budget..."

Hi,
I own a Gigabyte GTX 950 OC edition (single fan one). I'm trying to overclock it with MSI Afterburner, but it seems the card won't respond at all. I adjusted the max power and temperature settings to 118% and 95 degrees, even increasing the clock speed by 50 MHz. The screen goes black after about 10-15 minutes, and only a restart resolves the issue. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?
P.S.: I suspect the PSU isn't the problem—my power supply is a Corsair V550.
You might need to raise the voltage slightly, around 25 mV or even 50 mV.

It looks like the silicon didn't work out. Consider raising the voltage by .025V (about 25 mV) or even 50 mV. Adding +100 seems ineffective, or perhaps it's too high.
Not excessive. Since it's already overclocked, I don't expect major issues. It's more of a budget entry-level card rather than a top-tier performance one.

YOu might have missed the silicon lottery. Consider raising the voltage by .025V (25 mV) or even 50 mV. Adding +100 seems ineffective, or perhaps it's too high.
Not excessive. Since it's already overclocked, I don't expect major problems. It's not a card meant for serious gamers—more like an entry-level budget model. That description feels quite dismissive. A genuine entry-level budget GPU would be something like GTX 5xx or 6xx now. The term 'entry level budget card' is misleading. This label doesn't fit a GPU capable of handling modern games well.

You've lost the silicon lottery.
Consider increasing the voltage by .025V (about 25 mV), maybe up to 50 mV. Adding +100 seems ineffective or might be excessive.
Not too high, as the card is already overclocked and doesn't perform well. It's closer to a budget entry-level model than what you'd expect.
That 'entry level budget card' feels quite disappointing. A genuine entry-level budget GPU would be something like GTX 5xx or 6xx right now. That term usually refers to graphics that barely handle modern games—this one handles them better.
I'm sorry, but I didn't mean to offend. This is just my opinion. 50 entry, 60 mid-range, 70 high-end, 80 top-end is typical with Nvidia updates. 1050, 1060, 1070, 1080 are common now, with Ti being the final upgrade for some models.
Low-end POS? That's a different story.
