Hey everyone, I need some assistance with my PC. I recently upgraded to a Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti from a Triplex RX 580 with 8GB RAM. My CPU is still a Ryzen 5 2600. There’s an issue with BF V – it works on a 144Hz monitor but struggles around 100 FPS. The RX 580 managed to hit about 130 FPS, but the GTX 1080 didn’t. I’m only having problems with BF V, and no other games are affected. I tried adjusting NVIDIA settings and using NVIDIA Inspector, but there’s no FPS cap mentioned anywhere. I don’t understand what’s going on. Thanks for any advice ahead of time!
Check the power draw on the 1080 ti. If it is not reaching its limit you have a bottleneck.
I think the power limit on a 1080 ti is 120% if selected on a overclock app.
It does not reach but what could be holding back my GPU besides the CPU?
Because you're not facing problems in other games, the issue might be related to BF5 itself. Any updates or patches could be responsible, as well as how the game is optimized beyond just graphics settings. If you haven't already, consider these steps one by one—in any order—and try playing after each to eliminate possibilities:
- Update Windows, checking for updates regularly.
- Look for background processes that might be interfering in the task manager.
- Turn off the Origin overlay in-game.
- Navigate to BF5 folder and disable bfv.exe and bfvtrial.exe, adjusting settings for fullscreen optimization.
- Adjust game priority via Task Manager.
- Set maximum pre-rendered frames to 1.
- Enable threaded optimization.
- Configure power management for top performance.
- Adjust texture filtering to prioritize speed.
Also consider enabling DX12 if you haven't tried it yet.
