Hello Everyone, I'm facing an FPS issue in GTA V. My frame rate never exceeds 60, and sometimes it drops to around 45 FPS when entering grassy areas. The graphics settings I used are as follows: PC Specs – CPU i5-7600K @ 3.80 GHz (not overclocked), Mobo ASRock Z270 Extreme 4 RAM, 16 GB DDR4, Hyperx Fury GPU, MSI GTX 1080.

All your preferences are quite high, which might explain the FPS drop when viewing grass (ultra setting). It’s possible your CPU is sometimes restricting performance. Probably shouldn’t hit 60 fps, but you could try disabling vSync in the nVidia control panel.

Did you test a strong benchmark to check if your GPU hits its maximum performance? Msi afterburner can help resolve this and even safely boost your GPU speed. Check out the video by Jaystwocents, which he shared recently. I also noticed that swapping the thermal paste on your GPU can significantly lower temperatures for certain models.

I believe the issue isn’t too severe since I’ve experienced similar problems before with identical hardware and settings. It might be due to the drivers not being updated recently, even though I recently installed them.

It seems your frame rate might be constrained by VSync. Would you like me to verify that setting it off in the NVIDIA Control Panel?

I also think the explanation for the under 60 FPS isn't detailed enough. In his original comment, he mentioned V-sync was disabled, which might mean the game's settings cap performance at 60 FPS.

The V sync feature isn't working within the game. It might be adjusted to activate it during gameplay in the Nvidia control settings.

Thanks everyone for your assistance. I resolved the issue by opening MSI Afterburner and noticing my GPU usage was at 60%. After some research, I found a helpful video that explained the problem. It turned out the RAM was the cause, so I enabled the XMP profile. Now my FPS average is 92!

Did you match your RAM speed with your chosen XMP profile, or did you adjust it to be faster or slower?
