Accessgamer: Themastererr: Mac070: MSI is not great... Coil whine is typical. Edit: https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/acc...t.2350326/ Actually, the person should have included their card. Coil whine isn't normal. It's extremely bothersome and can be resolved. @O.P don’t accept such issues. Get what you paid for. I’m trying to figure it out more. How to resolve this coil whine and why it only appears in certain games (like CSGO) and not in others (such as GTA V)? I already mentioned this. High frame rates reduce coil whine (CS:GO) Low frame rates eliminate coil whine (GTA V) You can use frame limiters or V-sync to minimize the noise. You might also physically fix the issue by applying glue to the affected caps and phases. Since you have a very good PSU, it’s unlikely it’s causing the problem. This does happen. I was corrected about MSI, Mac070 is mostly accurate. MSI doesn’t promise zero coil whine; some sellers test cards before shipping to ensure no whine. I believe no company would refuse an RMA for coil whine. If you inform them it’s a significant issue, they should definitely assist you.

Themastererr: accessgamer: Mac070: MSI is garbage... Check this link: Coil whine is typical Updated: https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/acc...t.2350326/ Actually, the person should have included their card. Coil whine isn't normal. It's extremely bothersome and can be resolved. @O.P don’t accept such issues. Get what you paid for. I’m trying to figure it out more... How to reduce this coil whine and why it only appears in certain games (for example CSGO) and not in others (like GTA V)? I already mentioned this. High frame rates cause coil whine (CS:GO) Low frame rates don’t produce coil whine (GTA V) You can use frame limiters or V-sync to minimize the noise. You might also physically fix the issue by applying glue to the caps and phases that are making the sound. Since you have a very good PSU, I suspect it’s not causing the problem with the card. This does happen. I was corrected about MSI, Mac070 is mostly correct. MSI doesn’t always guarantee no coil whine; some sellers test their cards before shipping to ensure this. I don’t think any company would refuse an RMA for coil whine. If you let them know it’s a problem, they should help. So, I have a 1070 and I’m experiencing coil whine after waking up from sleep. The system runs smoothly, no GPU is consuming much power. Task manager shows the machine mostly idle. I can usually put it to sleep and wake it again, and the issue disappears. It sometimes takes several cycles of sleep/wake to fix it. Anyone else facing this? Any suggestions? Someone mentioned they found an app using the GPU and deleted it, but I’m not sure what was running or how to confirm it was the cause.
