Bought GTA:San Andreas recently to experience some old-time nostalgia, but encountered a problem when trying to launch it. Required DirectX9; also saw error 0x80070422 – Windows can’t finish the changes. No fixes found since the windows features toggle box is blank. It’s Steam edition, not boxed, and compatibility mode never worked for any program. Just to confirm, this is definitely a no-go.

Consider testing it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 or Vista.

I recently tested it, just like most programs people suggest using, but it keeps showing the same issues.

It seems you're asking about the format of the release. Could you clarify whether you mean the original physical CD/DVD version or the digital Steam release?

The compatibility settings aren't working with the Steam version, so what GPU are you using?

I'm more concerned about the absence of any Windows features. I don't think the GPU matters much, especially with an AMD E-300 APU.

It seems the GPU isn't a big factor here. Probably just check that the DirectX redistributables are installed or reinstall them.

Maybe attempting to run with admin privileges could achieve the desired result.
