Hello everyone, I’m trying to stay safe and honest. To be clear, my RTX 2080 SUPER isn’t handling GTA 5 well at any settings—especially not the Nvidia “optimized” ones. Given its specs, it just doesn’t make sense. At 1080p I usually hit around 24–44 FPS, averaging about 33. No modifications were made. Here’s what happened: I had an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X with liquid cooling, 64GB RAM at 3200 MHz, running GTA 5 on NVMe storage (non-OS). After reinstalling everything on the main drive, nothing changed. The 2080 Super is running the latest drivers, stress-tested to confirm stability. Temperatures stayed under 72°C, no throttling. MSI Afterburner used normally, and BIOS settings were fine. Even during benchmarks, CPU usage never spiked above 10–18% at 4.23 GHz, with all cores working efficiently. RAM stayed steady at 13GB, GPU recognition was solid, and utilization stayed low (around 19%). I’m seeing others on YouTube playing at higher resolutions and frame rates, but my experience is very different. My power settings are maxed out, yet performance remains poor. I can play No Man’s Sky in 4K Ultra with 50–55 FPS, and Fortnite at Epic settings gives 57–60 FPS because my screen caps at 60. This is really confusing. I’m not sure what to do next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated—I’m extremely frustrated. Thanks.

Are you relying on single-channel memory? The distinction between single and dual can affect performance by around 30 FPS. I also observed your scaling in advanced graphics options. Adjusting it to match your settings reduced my FPS from over 100 to roughly 25-40 on a 2080TI.

You're just starting this journey, right? After years of saving, this is your first PC build, and it's totally normal to feel unsure. You're using a Corsair motherboard with the specified RAM and CPU, but I'm not sure about the details of your second point. Could you clarify what you meant?

We're not relying on single-channel memory, we're using quad-channel. Regarding the second part, in your fourth screenshot the frame scaling is configured as "5/2 (x2.500)". I've disabled it, and I've confirmed with your configuration. FPS decreased from over 100 to 25-30 and occasionally even to 17.

AFAIK scaling mainly involves lowering the resolution and then enlarging it to match your screen's native size, which helps minimize jagged edges. You can boost MSAA for smoother performance on 1080p, but it will consume some GPU power.

Also verify the "Nvidia PCSS" shadows setting; from my perspective, that's the most accurate choice.

dude I can't thank you enough!!! This is amazing. I tried it on 1440 and the quality is unbelievable.. AMAZING.. I will try to tweak the settings for 4K but I'm very happy with 1440 around 60 fps. Can you push it to 4K above 60 fps with the ti?

I enjoy gaming in 1080p, but I usually cap myself at 2K. The extra detail doesn’t really matter to me since I’m not using a large display. Noticing games like Anno 1800 have trouble with higher city density at 1080p, I think sticking with this setup makes sense right now. Excited to see you hitting over 60 FPS in GTA!

I received a 32-inch display roughly 20 inches away, designed for video and photo work. A friend was thrilled to try gaming on it. I haven’t used the PS4 in a while, so I truly appreciate your effort.
