GTA V Performance
GTA V Performance
Hi there, I recently purchased a new Asus FX503VM-EN184T laptop with an i5-7300HQ and a 1060 graphics card. While playing GTA V, I noticed significant drops in frames per second, sometimes falling to just 15-20 FPS. I checked the CPU usage and found it consistently at 100% with minor fluctuations down to around 98%. I suspected a CPU bottleneck. I tried various workarounds like using DSR to run at 1440p with 8x MSAA, but the CPU remained at full load. Temperatures stayed within normal ranges—about 75-78°C on the CPU and 66-71°C on the GPU at 1080p. I used FXAA and 2x MSAA without advanced settings enabled. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
That doesn't align with how the system is designed. Increasing GPU strain isn't the solution—it's just adding more load. If the game loads the CPU at 100% even with minimal settings, the CPU is clearly insufficient for the build you're using. When benchmarking online, there are no fixed rules, so performance expectations vary widely.
Your i5 is likely the main constraint when aiming for 100fps gameplay. Most of the issue stems from limited VRAM, so a 6GB 1060 or an i7 with an 1050ti would be more suitable.
Currently I'm focusing on achieving 60 frames per second, but the performance drops significantly and it's quite annoying.
Everything operates at its minimal configuration. The fans run at full capacity. Performance is optimized to its highest level.
Only the top performance enthusiasts will attempt reduced configurations shortly after the initial launch.
At the lowest configurations, the CPU consumption has decreased to roughly 77 to 80%, though it can rise to 100% occasionally. This suggests that certain settings might be consuming excessive CPU resources.
