Sorry to add another GTA V discussion, but I haven’t found much about this topic. I’m thinking about getting it today, but my setup uses NV surround with portrait monitors. Some games that support NV surround don’t work well with that configuration (BF4 is a good example with confusing menus). Anyone know how to run GTA V at 3290 x 1920? I’ll lower the settings for smoother 60 FPS play, just like I do for most games. My CPU is 4690k and GPU is GTX970. Where should I purchase the game? Steam seems like a good option since I’m in the US and have fast internet—digital download would be best.

You could end up hitting a less-than-perfect level on your 970 by turning all the controls to their highest settings.

It promises assistance but no one appears to be using it so far.

I own a surround setup but haven't got GTA V on PC yet. Also, I wouldn't suggest using a portrait orientation for that kind of setup. I tried it for a while, but I realized 5760x1080 usually works better most of the time. Full-screen windows are really hard to handle with that resolution. I believe GTA V will function well with surround sound, just in a very wide format—not the way you're proposing.

Is that a portrait? No, it's a landscape.

I really like portrait surround, probably because it suits my work style. I spend a lot on spreadsheets and typing for school, and it makes things easier. They’re also secured with adhesive and Velcro so I don’t lose them. The 970 can’t reach the highest settings for most games at this resolution. I adjust the settings to play, but I think the big image and sharp quality make it worth it.

It seems even 4 Gb isn't enough for that res. I really wish future GPUs will reach 4/6/8 Gb, especially with top models hitting 12-16 Gb. (We already have the Titan X, but it's more of a rare case.)

You can adjust the resolution and test how GTA performs in portrait surround mode. Most features function well, except for the menus in BF4, which still work smoothly at higher or medium settings with solid frame rates.
