GTA V
GTA V
Likely not. The gap between GTA IV and V was five years. From a financial perspective, it wouldn’t be practical to begin developing a new game while releasing additional content for the existing version.
Everything can happen, but this seems highly improbable. They haven’t finished updating the game for at least another year. It’s unlikely they’d release GTA VI before the end of 2016 after taking time to deliver GTA V. If they adopt a standard one-year cycle like other companies do, they’re restricting themselves and putting pressure on developers to create quality content for players. That means it would likely be an incomplete and uninspired product.
It took them five years to complete this project. Given GTA's $3 billion franchise status, it's reasonable to expect more sequels. The staggered release strategy proved profitable. They began in 2013, targeting the most popular consoles first, then waited a year for the next generation, holding the PC version for six months afterward. Delaying announcements by a couple of weeks before the public reveal was unusual. Relying on GTA V as a steady revenue source meant they didn't rush its release. If this generation of consoles remains stable for five years, GTA 6 should launch on PS4 and X1 shortly after the next console releases.
