GTA5 online is CPU-intensive, significantly more than single player. Your laptop CPU is capable; examine what’s running in the background and verify CPU speeds and temperatures aren't throttling. Has this laptop previously played GTA5 online smoothly? Regarding system improvements, what type of RAM do you have—2x4GB or 1x8GB? GTA5 benefits from dual-channel RAM, particularly with 16GB. An SSD would also greatly improve performance if your laptop uses a HDD, especially a slow drive like a 5400rpm HDD.

GTA5 online is CPU-heavy, significantly more than single player. Your laptop CPU is capable; examine what’s running in the background and verify CPU speeds and temperatures aren't throttling. Has this laptop previously played GTA5 online smoothly? Investigate your 8GB RAM: is it two 4GB sticks or one 8GB stick? GTA5 benefits from dual-channel RAM, especially with 16GB. An SSD would also improve performance if your laptop uses a HDD, particularly a slow drive like a 5400rpm HDD.

It is 1x8 and running on HDD not SSD. Should I add SSD and 2x8 to make it 16?
