Greetings, I recently acquired a fresh laptop equipped with an i7-9750H processor and a GTX 1650 graphics card. I’ve installed the Grand Theft Auto V game, but I'm encountering a peculiar error message: ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT. I’ve explored numerous troubleshooting steps from various online forums. Here’s what I’ve attempted so far:

I updated my drivers through the control panel. Within the settings.xml file, I modified the DX_Version value to “0,” “1,” and other variations. I also disabled VSync. I reinstalled the game, and despite these efforts, the error persists. Consequently, I repeated all of the preceding actions. Furthermore, I configured the graphics window to borderless mode via the This PC’s properties -> Advanced System properties -> selecting "Adjust for best performance." Considering my GTX 1650, are there any additional solutions you could recommend?

This frequently occurs with portable computers. Stationary desktops present no problems.

Comparing the two, the fault likely lies within faulty software… however, it appears that NVIDIA Optimus software, absent in desktop systems, is the root cause. I could also consider Rockstar’s Social Club, but as some desktop users utilize SC alongside Steam without experiencing issues, I focus on Optimus as the central factor.

I've discovered a couple of outdated solutions—though they may still be effective:

1st solution:
“You must manually instruct the NVIDIA control panel to employ the high performance graphics card. Right-click the GAME icon >> Run With … >> Nvidia GPU.”

2nd solution:
“Navigate to your device manager and disable your Nvidia card. Subsequently, launch the Launcher, wait for it to appear…

Did it originate from Steam or Rockstar?

I’m unsure whether GeForce Experience has been set up, however, I recently updated the NVIDIA driver software and confirmed its installation. Could GeForce Experience be a separate program? Is it essential for use? Your input would be appreciated as I'm eager to begin playing this game.

I recently attempted to use GeForce Experience, but it continues to crash with the identical error message after approximately one to two minutes of gameplay.

The GeForce Experience application often causes more problems than benefits for personal computers. It’s preferable for users to manage their in-game settings independently rather than relying on erratic software that attempts to automate this process. The program frequently conflicts with other applications and occasionally clashes with the drivers themselves. I recommend removing the driver using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Access it here: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/. Download the driver package specifically for the 1650 model, but do not install it immediately. Disable your internet connection to prevent Windows from automatically installing a standard driver. Execute DDU in secure mode and ensure that Nvidia’s driver is selected for removal – be careful not to delete the integrated graphics processor (IGPU) driver of the 9750H. Once DDU has completed its task, you can install the downloaded driver and re-establish your internet connection.

I attempted the entire process in Safe Mode and upon initial game startup, when Story Mode commenced, an error occurred, effectively extinguishing all my expectations.

Could this be due to improper voltage adjustments? It's simply a possibility that crossed my mind. What could I possibly be overlooking?

Open Event Viewer by typing “event viewer” into the Windows search box.
Reliability History – *identical to above.
This resource might offer additional information regarding the issue. You’ll find a date and time stamp indicating the crash and specifics about the event.
