I've been adjusting the graphics settings for GTA 5 on PC for over a year now. In my view, it performs much better than GTA 4 in every aspect. GTA 4 was a weak port, barely playable. GTA 5 for PC was designed specifically for the platform and isn't just a translation. I still liked both versions. I believe GTA 5 offers too many graphical settings (don’t take it seriously every day). You could spend a year fine-tuning yet still feel unsatisfied with the trade-off between performance and visuals. Regarding mods: I added the better environment mod, but it didn’t affect my frame rate on a modern gaming PC. I didn’t like the new water effects, and rain looked less appealing to me. It might be worth upgrading your system if you want smooth performance for modern AAA games.
