I made a significant error about a year ago by using the Alienware Aurora R14 with 5900x RAM. The system has poor RAM support and struggles to overclock because of Alienware's problematic BIOS. Eventually, I replaced the memory with G.Skill RipJaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB), 288-Pin SDRAM DDR4 4000 (PC4-32000) CL15-16-16-36 at 1.50V Quad Channel Desktop Memory Model F4-4000C15Q-32GVK. You can check the link for details: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086DVTKX7?th=...s_li_ss_tl. The main issue is that Alienware BIOS only supports up to 1.4V and disables Gear Down Mode. While Ryzen Master can push it to 1.5V, using settings outside the BIOS limits risks damaging the BIOS. In Alienware BIOS there are no advanced options beyond TCAS, TRCD, TRP, TRAS, and TRC. I’m unsure why I thought I could get better performance.
Would increasing the voltage to 1.4V affect stability? Would tweaking other settings cause similar problems? Also, what type of chip do these sticks have? Thanks, William.
