Hi, I recently replaced my Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB DDR5-6000 (PVV532G600C36K) RAM kit with a G.Skill Flare X5 (F5-6000J3238F16GX2-FX5) kit as I was experiencing stability issues with the Patriot kit. Unfortunately, with the G.Skill kit there is very prominent coil whine when the system is under load. Therefore, I'm considering returning the kit. However, I'm unsure if this is a general problem with the G.Skill kit or if it's just affecting mine. Is there anyone using the same kit who can report on his/her experience? I also checked the voltages for the XMP/Expo profiles of both kits and both running on 1.35 V, so it's unlikely the whine is caused by my motherboards VRMs. My System: Ryzen 9 7900X Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX 32 GB G.Skill Flare X5 (F5-6000J3238F16GX2-FX5)
It doesn't seem typical to experience coil whine when switching RAM. Probably only noticeable during gaming. If so, the GPU might be causing it, which is completely normal.
Thank you for your response. The GPU isn’t the problem. As mentioned, the noise didn’t appear with my previous RAM setup and happens in scenarios without GPU processing (like system startup, Cinebench tests, or memory stability checks) or when using the CPU’s built-in graphics. I’m clear there are no coils on the memory modules. There’s a PMIC on the DDR5 RAM chip that could definitely generate noise, which I think is the most accurate description.
