Hello everyone, after eight years I finally bought a new PC. The first one was for my own earnings, but I ran into an issue. My RAM won’t accept the XMP profile or even manual clock speeds above 3200MHz. It completely ignores me and I’m forced to reset the CMOS to get back into BIOS. The components I suspect are important: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, ASUS ROG Strix X570-E, G.SKILL Trident Z RGB DDR4-4000MHz CL18-22-22-42 1.40V, 64GB (2x32GB). My sticks are in the A2 and B2 slots (second and fourth from the CPU). I tried swapping one stick into each slot, but nothing worked. The latest BIOS is 3001, which I just updated because it wouldn’t load without it. I attempted to apply XMP settings and lower the clock to 3600MHz, but that didn’t succeed.
32GB dimming and a 64GB overall size will put a lot of strain on the IMC. You might want to raise the SOC voltage. For optimal compatibility, I’d suggest using 3200Mhz with this amount of RAM. If it’s meant for gaming, I’d recommend 16GB or no more than 32GB at 3600Mhz.
Thank you for the suggestion. I increased the SOC voltage and achieved stable operation at 3800MHz with a 1900MHz clock. That works well for me.
