It seems you're facing some issues with updating your Windows settings. You edited group policies to pause updates, but they disappeared and are now disabled. It might help to double-check where those policies were stored—sometimes they’re saved under different names or locations. Also, ensure you're using the latest version of Group Policy Editor and that your system has enough permissions. If the problem persists, consider reinstalling Windows or checking for any pending updates.

This problem often appears. Switching the "send your device data to Microsoft" choice to "enhanced" might resolve it. Alternatively, test all three options: Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics under Diagnostic and usage data.

I noticed something unusual—I kept searching online but found nothing. Here’s what I’ve tried: tweaking telemetry settings in the Feedback & Diagnostics GUI via Group Policy Editor, testing each option and updating the group policy accordingly. Checking the registry to remove conflicting WinUpdate keys (like deleting the Windows Update folder in the specified path) didn’t work so far. It seems a recent edit might have helped, though I’m not sure. If anyone else faces the same issue, suggest following the recommended steps first before editing the registry, as it’s riskier. Appreciate your assistance!

It seems the best approach might be using the group policy editor instead of adjusting update settings in the settings app. In 1607, several policies exist to manage update preferences effectively.

Oh yeah, no, that's what I ended up doing after attempting to change them through the settings app first. It was the second thing I'd listed. Neither were effective, as far as I can tell, unfortunately; only the registry change.

I tried to be overly informed, but that actually helped. It was an update setting change. I wasn't sure I fixed it or touched the registry, but it was part of the update policy. Thanks for the congratulations! You might want to share the exact instructions if you have them for others who need to follow along.
