Soon after Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile, I might have Groove Music installed on my phone within the next few days. I'm thinking about switching from Spotify to Groove. The main advantage is the variety of genres available. I've heard some concerns about audio quality being lower on Groove. Is that accurate? For non-experts, would the difference be noticeable? I own an HD 518 and want to see if I can tell the difference without a sound card or DAC. Should I buy albums individually or subscribe to a streaming pass? Groove offers both options, but PASS users get an extra 100GB in OneDrive. From a user interface perspective, Groove seems more modern compared to Spotify. It should also run smoother on my phone and won't cause lag when playing music. Since Groove was developed by Microsoft, it makes sense that they have strong ties to Windows Phone. Please share your thoughts, opinions, and advice below!

It was hard for Groove to play or stream music properly. I kept getting errors that seemed to be a problem since the beta version. I recommend using Google Play instead. It includes YouTube Red, which also provides a YouTube Music Key—useful for playing YouTube videos quietly on your phone.

Consider trying groove Music first because I’m not facing any issues or problems with it.
Alternatively, I rely on Windows Phone and don’t use Google Music.

Groove Music offers a decent range of tracks and features, though it can feel restricted and sometimes unstable. It's been this way since it was introduced as Xbox Music. I haven't tried Spotify Premium, but I appreciate the free tier.

I think Groove Music looks and performs much better than Spotify on both WP8.1 and W10M. Even with a 950 XL, you still see the loading screen for Spotify, while Groove just opens right away. Considering I’m getting a student discount for Spotify (half price), I’ll stick with it for now. It also works on all my other devices—Windows, macOS, Android, tablet. The sound quality is pretty consistent. At this stage, just choose the one that fits your budget and platform needs.
