I owned the 5700xt for some time before yesterday. While playing Red Dead Redemption 2: High/Ultra, everything worked smoothly until it suddenly crashed. It began flashing green and gray screens before opening Windows. I ran DDU three times, swapped PSU cables, reinstalled Windows in Device Manager, but the error code 31 VID_20231019133841.mp4 persisted.
Ooft! It seems like there might be an issue. The main things I’d recommend are: 1. Check if your motherboard has a second or third PCIe slot to try. 2. Do you have another PC available to install the card? 3. Is it possible to flash the VBIOS on the card? Even if you can do that, make sure Windows won’t crash during the process—having another PC ready would be ideal. What processor do you have? If it’s Intel, you’ll likely need an integrated graphics unit (unless it’s a F-series). The Driver Error Code 31 is quite alarming; it suggests the card might be damaged and has failed to install drivers properly.
my r5 2600x works fine without an IGPU, guess. i currently have a second PCIe slot available, but i don’t have another PC to test anything. flashing the VBIOS is possible, though. right now it lets me run youtube and simple tasks. i’m saving up for a new one—probably something from nvidia. i had a really bad experience with amd drivers. thanks for your time!
