MB suggests the ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS is a solid pick for a Ryzen 7 7700 setup. It offers a heatsink, Toslink out, multiple rear USB ports, 2.5G Ethernet, and includes a BIOS update that works without the CPU. The price seems reasonable, around 141 euros or about 119 pounds. However, I’m not sure about its build quality. GIGABYTE B650 GAMING X AX V2 is priced near 160 euros.
Which nation are we discussing? Your budget looks good. The MATX is fine.
I favor ATX, Denmark's memory is expected to reach 6000MHz CL30 for 100 euros https://www.techspot.com/review/2633-amd...herboards/
For a price of 100 euros, most budget ASUS motherboards seem to offer poor quality and value. It’s best to avoid them unless you’re targeting the premium range. This isn’t terrible—some alternatives worth considering include the ASRock B650 PG Lightning, ASRock B650 Livemixer, and MSI PRO B650-S WiFi, all full-size ATX models.
Techspot highlighted the VRM performance, which heats up, suggesting it's suitable for a maximum of 8 cores.
Gigabyte cards aren’t worth much, I recommend the B650 PG Lightning or B650 Tomahawk WiFi. Don’t even think about ASUS—these days the best Prime boards are the Z-series models.
The B650 Tomahawk WiFi option exceeds what I’m willing to spend. I opted for the Ryzen 7700 instead of the 7500F, keeping my budget reasonable. I wasn’t expecting a large investment since I already had sufficient RAM. I aimed for slightly better performance than my initial Ryzen selection, which meant a more costly CPU.
I placed an order for the ASRock B650 PG Lightning. I had my cooler, CPU, and memory bundled previously, but RAM was sold ten minutes ago. I need a new CPU cooler because the one I have isn’t compatible with AM4 and is quite affordable yet much better than any Ryzen model. I searched online to find the minimum cooler for a Ryzen 7 7700, aiming for something reasonably priced but still effective. So far, I’ve only seen discussions about the best AM5 Ryzen 7 coolers, like Thermalright’s Assassin 120, which is budget-friendly and performs well.
I just own it really well, but I sold it with my CPU and motherboard too—at least I thought it would come up this weekend. After testing temperatures, I needed something affordable and unique. I posted it, but it looks like I didn’t get the right model (the one with ACFRE00121A) and instead got a P12 case fan.
