It still feels quite appealing to me. I would have liked if they pushed the PC release later, similar to how Rockstar handled GTA, so we could eventually enjoy a polished version. Still, I've spent around ten hours playing so far and found many parts worth appreciating. That's why I don't grasp all the conflicts. They managed to create something solid with a solid business approach and shouldn't be held accountable for everything.
It can essentially match the look of the initial trailer once you adjust it and apply patches. My goal is to fully utilize my GTX 980 at 2560x1440p while still appearing superior to a console version. A PS4 would cost around $400, whereas a 980+i7 would be about $1000. Also, achieving 60 FPS at the highest quality seems unlikely unless we add another 980. In my view, going SLI isn't worth it until Pascal+DX12 is available. We can then expect over 90% scaling.
It’s unlikely to function properly on a standard machine with a single 980 processor if all planned features are packed into an open-world design. PC enthusiasts usually dislike games that feel poorly optimized, even if they look great on high-end systems. Using four-way Titan X SLI for 1080p might impress some, but many would criticize the lack of optimization, especially when performance drops on older hardware like the 980 or 970. If the game seemed fine on lower-end machines, people would complain about its downgrade due to console limitations and frustrating commentary.
