Graphical performance drop in Witcher 3. (POLL)
Are there any concerns among the group? The game remains so appealing, which makes it hard to grasp why some are criticizing it as bad.
They handed us a Watch Dogs experience instead of what we expected! Frustrating! Yet, I’m only slightly irritated.
I'm not upset, but then again I'm no longer inclined to buy/play it. I mean I was never hugely drawn towards the witcher series in the first place, however with how the graphics looked in 2013 I figured I'd give it a chance anyway. Now.......no incentive to go for it. It still looks good, it just doesn't look amazing.
The frustration comes from game developers becoming excessively lazy. They insist everything must be "balanced," but that doesn't matter if you pushed the system to its limits and it still falls short. Don't lower everyone else's performance just because they have better hardware. In reality, most people should understand that next-gen consoles aren't a true upgrade—they're more like minor improvements. If they truly wanted power, they should design systems similar to PCs but with interchangeable parts, much like Project Aria.
I haven't tried it myself. I heard a patch for better graphics is scheduled this week, and it seems it's already available. Even if graphics quality was reduced, there might be ways to restore it using maximum ini file adjustments. I'm not expecting a big change, but that would be my approach. Wouldn't expect FPS to drop to 20 seconds with just one 980 at full settings (including double MSAA) at 1440p. Anyone else has experience with this?
Trailers ran at 4k resolution so it's not a downgrade really, I got close to that quality with 970 at 1080p with simple reshade + sweet fx mod. I don't get what the all fuss is about. Game is amazing.
Yeah I have, but I'm rolling 1440p in 21:9, so fps was a bit lower than most others I've seen post about it, but not as low as the 20's. Patch came out today and it seems that they will continue to patch in the near future, both to optimize performance, but also allowing for the extreme rigs to make fuller use of it. I read something along those lines at Eurogamer. Here's the actual link. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-0...ue-head-on Edit: I voted no, I like the game a lot and I think it'll only get better as they continue to patch. I've missed playing something like this ever since Skyrim on the PS3. Edit 2: I'm hovering around 40 fps with everything cranked to max. Turn off HairWorks, gain about 8-10 fps... So with turning some things down a bit, I get 60 or thereabouts most of the time.
