Hey there. I'm struggling a bit too. My PC stops showing video (the screen turns black sometimes, other times it just goes off suddenly, and then it happens again before fully shutting down). The only fix is restarting the computer. When I try to use any program or game, it causes the same issue. I've updated my drivers but it doesn't help. Removing the GPU and using the display from the CPU works instead. This seems to happen with my i7 8700 graphics card (2x16 Corsair Vengeance 3200 MSI Armor GTX1080 Antec EAG Pro 750W). Any ideas what might be causing this?
Avoid putting stress on your GPU; this can lead to issues. Particularly when it's just running in the washing machine. Have you looked at the Windows Logs for any errors during the moment the GPU loses signal? Those logs might clarify what’s wrong. It could also be connected to the GPU temperature. Did you confirm it doesn’t get too hot? Are any overclocks active?
but how else are the fans supposed to dry the laundry... uhm i haven't honestly don't know what to make of it. temps seemed fine, and no overclock I've even tried a under-clock but it still gives me the same problem.
I also attempted to detach my GPU and simply used my CPU’s display, which appears to function correctly. That immediately removes the GPU. Under heavy use, it draws significantly more power. This indicates three possible failure points: the power supply not delivering proper wattage (unlikely here since the GPU would throttle), GPU overheating (resolved with fresh thermal paste and checking temperatures), and a failing VRM on the GPU itself (worst case). To rule out the last one, test the system with another PSU or try it in a friend’s setup to see if the issue continues.
Thanks, I hope I can locate someone who can assist me. I recently relocated to a new city and haven’t met many PC gamers yet. Is applying new thermal paste to a GPU simple? I’m unfamiliar with the process and am considering various fixes before purchasing a replacement part.
We understand the issue. The logs you mentioned come from the NVIDIA driver. Could you provide the additional error messages as well? It seems only one more should suffice.
