Age of Computer : 3.5 years Monitor LG UltraGear 34GN850-B Resolution 3440x1440 (34 inch) Display Settings 144hz Adaptive-Sync On HDR OFF Response Time FAST DAS Mode ON Hardware SSD : Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 HDD : Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM008 2TB CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3700X GPU : Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 2080 XTREME 8G 8 GB GDDR6 Motherboard : Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE RAM : 4x Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4 - 3200MHz (32GB - 4x 8GB) Power Supply : Corsair TX-M Series TX650M Case : NZXT H510 Cable PC>Screen : DisplayPort Cable The Problem Back in February 2022 I purchased the LG Ultrawide screen. Although the experience was great, something seemed wrong as I began encountering difficulties. The primary issue is that during gameplay, my display would abruptly freeze. In the background, however, I could still hear the audio, and controls like keyboard, mouse, and steering wheel remained functional—I could hear myself move or react despite being in a crash scenario. Eventually, the game would become silent occasionally. If I was fortunate, I could use ALT+TAB to close the application or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open Task Manager and end the process. There, the app would sometimes report it was no longer working. If I wasn’t lucky, I couldn’t reach Task Manager at all. The only way then was to press the physical power button or use CTRL+ALT+DEL to force a shutdown, keeping my PC running. When using a 24.5 inch screen (AOC G2590PX) at 1920x1080, I didn’t face any problems. Using the ultrawide also caused my GPU to become unusually loud. At first, I thought this might signal an impending freeze, but later realized it could occur even without excessive noise. The crashes happened randomly. On some occasions they were rare—certain titles like racing sims seemed more prone—but sometimes they occurred almost every five minutes. Occasionally, the game would briefly respond, displaying a pop-up about a GPU issue (Destiny 2 Error Code: BROCCOLI). Other games that experienced crashes included Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, CS:GO, Overwatch 2, No Man’s Sky, and New World. Troubleshooting Steps I tried this year: Added extra RAM (from 2x8GB to 4x8GB), ran MemTest86 (no errors), changed DisplayPort cable settings, lowered resolution to 1440p, used 3DMark Time Spy benchmark (normal score), connected two PCIe cables (one per port), upgraded to Windows 11, updated drivers and BIOS, disabled antivirus (Avast), checked Windows Event Manager (no errors). Despite these efforts, the problem persisted. It became a major frustration, preventing me from connecting with friends online due to sudden disconnects in games, which could ruin their gaming sessions. I’m reaching my limit for help before considering a hardware upgrade. Thank you very much for your time and detailed information—I truly appreciate it!

It seems your graphics card might be running low on memory, especially when rendering at high resolutions like 1440p ultra wide.

It's improbable that CS:GO will run out of VRAM.

I'll use GPU-Z or a similar tool to keep an eye on the VRAM. Perfect idea!

Certainly, I'll attempt any troubleshooting steps I can. It hasn't happened in CS:GO for about two weeks now. I'll also look into similar games like New World and my race sims.
