GPU usage stays between 50 and 60% while FPS remains low in Warzone 2.0?
I recently upgraded my GPU to a 3080 FE. I was hoping for better performance in Warzone 2 but only see around 100 fps regardless of graphics settings. In multiplayer with Modern Warfare 2, my system runs smoothly, achieving 240-250 fps on low settings and 180-200 on ultra. My GPU usage stays between 90-100% during multiplayer. When I start a Warzone game, it drops to 50-60% usage and frames become very low. I don’t think the CPU is the issue since my CPU usage is also low. I’m unsure why this happens or what could be fixed. I’ve updated drivers, BIOS, and tried some forum suggestions, but nothing worked. Is this just related to the game?
Interesting. You haven't explored the per core utility yet. Since you're new to PC building and troubleshooting, focus on there. And yes, you're wondering if the game might be poorly optimized, but your friends seem unaffected.
Just one main core handling 90% of the work is enough, unless it's the game engine; those are usually where performance issues appear.
Games remain limited by a single core, even when tasks are sent to other cores. Sadly, core parallelization hasn't really made much progress.
Only a limited range of hardware and software combinations can be considered.
Beyond heavy single-core usage, I'd like to mention it becomes quite extensive. Look into the Task Manager to see which applications are consuming many CPU cycles. Additionally, make sure XMP is enabled in the BIOS if you haven't done so already.
