Hello everyone, this has been a while since I last shared updates, but I thought I’d try to post again because I couldn’t find a solution online for my ongoing problem.

I’m experiencing a gradual drop in FPS during gameplay in MHWilds, turning the experience into a slow slideshow. It looks like my GPU usage is decreasing steadily—from around 80% at the start to just 30% later on. I’ve adjusted the graphics settings to try and boost performance, but it doesn’t make a difference. The situation seems to worsen over time, which makes me suspect thermal throttling might be involved.

Using HWiNFO, I checked my hardware and didn’t see any sudden voltage or temperature spikes from GPU, CPU, or RAM. Some other discussions mentioned possible issues with storage drives, but CrystalDiskInfo showed both my boot and game drives at 99% capacity (M.2 NVMe). A few people also reported RAM problems, though I’m not sure what to look for. Others suggested a large pagefile.sys might be the culprit, but I’ve set it to system-managed for all drives.

Interestingly, other demanding games don’t trigger this issue. When I switch to triple-A titles, my GPU stays at full capacity throughout, and the performance remains strong—like a jet engine running smoothly. I’m not sure if this is unique to Wilds, but I haven’t encountered this exact problem elsewhere. If anyone has any ideas or fixes, it would be really helpful!

PC specifications:
- CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
- GPU cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite (2023)
- Motherboard: ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming Wifi (BIOS v.2413)
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB 6000MHz DDR5

- GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 Ti
- PSU: Corsair RM850x (installed Nov 2023)
- Chassis: Hyte Y70 Touch
- OS: Windows 11
- Monitor: LG 27GP850-B (main), Acer XF270H (side), Hyte Y70 Touchscreen

PC Specifications:
Ryzen 9 7900x
RTX 3080 Ti
32gb DDR5 6000Mhz
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's standard to provide complete system details. List the following components in order:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the PSU age along with its make and model.
BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
Noticing you have an Nvidia GPU—what driver version are you using?
Unwanted, other demanding games cause this problem.
Which additional titles have stressed your system?
Try using DDU, clear all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the newest GPU driver from Nvidia's support site via an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

My apologies, I revised the post with the complete details.
At first, I was using 572.83, then switched to DDU to revert to 566.36 in an early attempt to fix problems, and after that failed, I repeated the process and updated to 576.02 (current).
I've played Elden Ring, Helldivers 2, ARK Survival Ascended, Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor, etc. But it seems most recently ARK Survival Ascended (~10 hours in March) was still unaffected.
