GPU upgraded yet performance is declining in games.
Hello everyone, I just upgraded my PC by getting a new GPU (RTX 3080 Ti). I'm currently playing Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and it's running at epic graphics quality. My monitor is 2560 x 1440 and I'm only managing around 60fps, while benchmarks suggest it should hit 144fps smoothly. Here are my specs: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, GPU – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, Motherboard – B450-F Gaming 2, RAM – 32GB DDR4. I think the processor might be limiting performance. Thanks for your support!
We require additional details like CPU/GPU activity and temperatures during gameplay.
It's possible your CPU is limiting the GPU performance, which could lead to lower frame rates. I'm not sure for sure.
I'm not confident about NZXT's CAM software accuracy. I'd prefer using Afterburner for live checks. If the data holds up, it seems the CPU is likely the main issue. 3700X struggles with single-core tasks, and many games perform worse in that area due to engine design. It's possible 40% of CPU load comes from heavy usage on 2 or 4 cores while others remain idle. If my 12400 occasionally bottlenecks a 6800 XT, a 3700X would definitely limit a 3080 Ti. To verify, I'd test other AAA titles to see if GPU usage hits 100%. I recommend trying at least three more games—SoTR, CP2077, AC Valhalla, HZD, Uncharted, Spider-man Remastered/MM.
Your RAM operates at a standard frequency of DDR4-2133/2400 according to JEDEC specifications. It supports XMP/DOCP enhancements for additional performance options.
It's not great, but creating up from scratch really uses a lot of resources! Yeah, it definitely needs an upgrade. I'd also strongly suggest uninstalling CAM—it consumes huge amounts of RAM and CPU.
