GPU upgrade ?
Is $350 a reasonable price for a phantom gaming d oc 6800? It would be an upgrade from your 2070super with mostly 1080p and 8gb of VRAM, but it's not the best you can get. You also won't be able to exceed a max of 400$. Your current setup includes a 5700x3d display, 32gb RAM, 2tb NVMe SSD, and a 650mm PSU.
What is the brand and model of your PSU, along with its age? The offer would be favorable if the price is $350 or less but not more.
Where do you obtain it from? I believe it's second-hand, but it comes from a trustworthy place.
Where have you encountered this situation? I've noticed numerous used mining GPUs, but very few experienced such problems, let alone the particular issue you mentioned. When a graphics card gets hot from GPU use, it expands thermally. Are you suggesting that mining cards frequently fail because of this?
ebay guy mentioned he mainly used it for valorant pictures.

It is well understood in China that navi21 frequently suffers from self-damage caused by intense thermal expansion and contraction, a problem common to models like 6950xt, 6900xt, and 6800xt. It is advised to keep the PC idle for a short period after use rather than shutting it down immediately. This issue is not linked to mining, as all navi21 GPUs experience it. Lower-end navi22 and earlier GPUs are not affected by this problem. I am surprised that such a widely accepted view is not popular outside China. For more details, search “核心鼓包” and you’ll find most references point to 68/6900xt.
