I observed my GPU struggling in games that should run smoothly and attempted all known solutions. I manage to hit high frame rates, but they’re very unstable—sometimes I reach my desired FPS briefly, other times it drops significantly. For example, I can maintain around 144fps in Tf2, though the action mode often reduces it to about 90. In Valve’s RDR2, I get roughly 13 frames in a specific area. This is the exact model I own: https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-rtx-2...0009-00A52. The GPU isn’t overheating, and none of the other parts are affected.

Things I’ve tried so far:
- Uninstalled outdated drivers using DDU
- Purchased a second cable with separate power for 8-pin and 6-pin connectors
- Disconnected the second monitor
- Removed old audio drivers
- Turned off RGB lighting on the card
- Ran a malware scan with Malwarebytes
- Switched to different power outlets

My system specs:
- PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3, 850W, 80 Plus Gold
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 46°C
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 (Matisse 7nm), 1197MHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3-CF (AM4)
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, 36°C
- Storage: 3726GB NVMe SSDs (Seagate and Western Digital)
- Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Your rams are running at 2400mhz. RDR2 is especially CPU heavy like every other Rockstar game, so this will have an impact on your performance. Also I am seeing there is mechanical storage, which can introduce asset streaming stutters if you install your games to them. Edited January 15, 2024 by Levent Shit at maths

Last night I performed a fresh installation but didn't see any updates. I should have noted that in the update.

Also, when things are messy and you leave some details out (like me), 16GB could run low. Yeah, that RAM isn’t great! Edited January 15, 2024 by leclod

The AM4 Ryzen runs much smoother when paired with quicker RAM.

Check if XMP is supported in your BIOS settings. It could be labeled differently, like DOCP on some AMD systems.

I've already tried turning on xmp, but it doesn't seem to improve anything or affect my RAM speeds. I've experimented with BIOS settings before and boosted my speed to 2666 without making other changes (I'm not sure about RAM specs). It looks like upgrading to a new RAM might be the best option. Any advice would be appreciated.
