GPU shuts down and causes random freezes during video playback under moonlight.
Hi, so this issue has been plaguing me for the last week or so and I havent been able to fix it so far. What ive tried so far is reseating gpu, re-applying thermal paste and teardown of gpu, re-plugging power cables, complete reset of all gpu drivers (with and without ddu), different games and load scenarios, different gpu drivers and without GFE (geforce experience). No major windows updates happened in that time and I had made no hardware changes recently. It happened the morning after I shut it down as normal (no issues the night before it started acting up) and just froze in deep rock galactic. The gpu also hangs while using remote desktop and will throw the error the graphics component could not be started up or something similar. There were no thermal issues (only difference was after I repasted was 5c lower at 65 degrees but before I had thermal limit at 72 degrees). The issue: Windows will sometimes play the disconnect sound (sometimes not) and moonlight will freeze (as I am streaming off a mac). It inconsistently will either just freeze and you have to restart it (unable to remote desktop or use moonlight to connect) or it will restart itself and you can reconnect again. The timing of when it crashes is completely inconsistent as sometimes it will crash at the windows login screen, at desktop idle or in the middle of the game. Temps are always in check as they never went above 72 degrees so im at a loss and have no idea what the problem is. here are specs if yall have any ideas: Gigabyte RTX 3070 gaming OC (Ive tried both bioses with no luck) Asus h270 prime plus i7-7700K 16gb crucial ram corsair mp510 1tb corsair rm650i corsair H150i (idk its the 360mm aio) I know its a GPU issue as I have swapped my gpu out for a gt710 (only one I had on hand) and it hasnt thrown any crashes or errors so far albeit at one tenth the framerates. If it helps before I had gtx 1070 (evga ftw3) with the exact same config and there were no issues whatsoever except for performance thus why I changed it. I was gonna rma the card until I saw that the 4-year warranty that is advertised is really a lie and is hidden behind a registration that I didn't do as I bought the card second hand. My only thoughts are that it could be due to a thermal failure as when I purchased the card in furmark it would jump to around 80 degrees quickly (10-20 secs) and throttle versus after I repasted and it never went above 75 but I had thermal limit to 72. sorry for the 20 paragraphs but I want to give as much detail to see if anyone has any ideas, thanks.
