GPU settings on Windows prioritize Windows 8 and 7 above other devices.
Hey, a while back I came across a tutorial on adjusting hardware priority settings. I moved the GPU into an earlier slot to boost my FPS, but now I’m trying to revert it. It’s hard to locate that guide anymore since I want to go back. Do you recall something similar?
The GPU must be connected via a PCI-E16x lane. If it uses 8x PCI-E (sharing the same connector as PCI-E 16x), performance drops because fewer lanes are available for data transfer between the GPU and the system. There’s no special priority hardware involved. It seems the GPU was likely plugged into the incorrect connector on the motherboard, which is why the author believes using the correct lane improves performance.
