I eventually tried Gourdiens of the Galaxy and quickly realized the performance was terrible. Running it at 1080p with low settings and fidelity performance mode gave only 15-25 frames depending on the scene. After checking the afterburner, the GPU was drawing just 80-100 watts—far below its usual 160 watts. It worked in other games, but what should I do now? My system is an i3 10100 with 16GB RAM, GTX 970 (OC to 1500 on core 1875 on memory), and temperatures are around 73°C after 20 minutes of gaming with a high load. The hotspot was at 81°C. I pushed the power limit and temperature limits in the afterburner.
I adjusted the thermal paste roughly three months ago and everything seems fine across other titles. In Warzone it runs at 150-160 watts, and BF V and the clock speed are correct (around 1500). I checked before installing and kept the same settings, also enabled Fidelity FX for performance.
Each match affects your GPU uniquely; the image you shared shows it throttling near 99°C, while other titles might handle it better. When it reaches that temperature, it stops asking for more power to stay safe.
If it works in other titles, it might mean your system is reaching its maximum capabilities. That’s typical.
That's the GPU usage. The Temp of the card is 58°C. It's NOT thermal throttling. OP. You're getting 99-100% utilization on your GPU. If the game can push that and it doesn't need to suck down the power it won't. If your card was pulling more power it still wouldn't hit a higher framerate. It'd just get hotter
Absolutely correct, I didn't enlarge the picture to confirm it was a percentage mark rather than a degree measurement. Regardless, the GPU is overwhelmed and won't reach its maximum output for that game. It performed as well as possible. Even without full power, an i3 processor combined with that specific graphics card simply isn't sufficient to handle the game's graphical demands.
