GPU performance peaks at 77% utilization. Could a CPU be limiting overall speed?
The game has recently begun, and the GPU reached its maximum at 77% during a session lasting over five hours. The highest I've recorded it at in the game is around 80%. It's interesting that my CPU reaches about 83-84% load across all cores. My current system uses an MSI GTX 1080ti OC gaming edition (exact model not remembered). The CPU runs at an Intel 8700k clock, which is currently 4.3ghz (boosted).
It seems unusual that I'm experiencing high FPS demands in certain situations, particularly while driving, even though it doesn't impact the GPU or CPU load much. It appears the performance could be higher if the load were greater. I'm unsure if I'm hitting a bottleneck, but the GPU isn't reaching 100% and I know optimization can vary by game.
During streaming, my FPS drops slightly, though not drastically. The chugging still occurs intermittently, without much noticeable effect. Would adjusting the CPU clock to around 4.5ghz help in those areas? Thanks!
It seems normal then. My 2070s GTA 5 1080p high average FPS stays between 100 and 120, which still uses about 68-70% of the usage. It’s unlikely there’s a bottleneck, though your CPU is a bit older now. It won’t reach 100 unless you switch to 4K or something similar. Give it a try if you can.
It seems typical then. My 2070s GTA 5 1080p high average frames is still around 68-70% usage. Probably not a bottleneck, though your CPU is a bit outdated now. It won’t reach 100 unless you switch to 4K or something. Give it a try if you can.
Alright. Thank you for quick reply. Think I will get significantly more performance out of my GPU if I clock my CPU or you think its going to stay around the same anyway? Also then it's basicly just the game that is badly optimized? Considering im well inside the recommended hardware for the game.
The CPU clock could potentially assist, though it's a significant factor. I'm aware that GTA isn't highly optimized. When you notice some grass and FPS drops to 60, it might be due to excessive grass, which can lead you to the console for better performance.
I observed some benchmarks where players used 1080 TI configurations. They achieved near full utilization or very close to it on the card. However, they had 9700k with a 4.9ghz boost, which feels unusual. Generally, I've learned that CPUs have a certain range and flexibility for GPUs, especially with older processors where you can adjust clock speeds to compensate. But CPUs aren't something you need to swap out. Recently, I purchased a PC a few years ago, and it had the fastest CPU in the i7 lineup, along with a top-tier GPU. It seems strange that the CPU doesn’t keep up with the GPU’s performance. Perhaps the game demands high single-thread speed for optimal GPU use. Watch this person; they use the same CPU as me and are under load similar to mine, yet not even close to my current CPU strain. That’s quite odd. 😛 Also, his GPU is nearly at full capacity when I play ultra, while my CPU drops into the 80s at maximum. He might occasionally hit 70, and his GPU could be limiting his CPU. But I think there’s a bigger issue—none of my components are reaching near 100% load while others with similar systems do. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g-xjCMj...nnel=Laslo
