Hello everyone,
I just installed an RTX5070 Ti and here’s my full setup (playing at 1440p):
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (8 cores / 16 threads)
Graphics card: RTX 5070 Ti
RAM memory: 32 GB DDR4 (Corsair, max 3200 MHz XMP)
Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI
Power supply: Corsair RM850X (850W, Gold certified)
Cooling: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX (Watercooling 360 mm)
Storage: SSD NVMe – Samsung 970 Evo 1Tb
NVMe SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2Tb
I ran a time spy test and achieved a solid score (22938) with full GPU utilization. However, on Cyberpunk I see my GPU rarely hits 100%, almost capped. The CPU is at 76% too. Why can’t I force my GPU to perform harder in games? Despite using full ultra settings, DLSS + frame generation 2, and ray tracing on Cyberpunk. I think there might be a CPU limitation, but is it noticeable or just minor?

Your cpu is working really hard during the game. I believe your gpu is just not being utilized because it is waiting for the frames to be sent to it. If you are getting 146 fps and not suffering any stutters or lag I would just let it be. Or you could try different settings, higher or lower, and see if the gpu puts out more effort.

The game also serves as an excellent example of GPU optimization, ensuring your GPU is more than sufficient for 1440. At 4k resolution, performance would be nearly perfect.

What settings are you applying for DLSS? Consider disabling it to observe maximum GPU utilization.

It's essential to recognize that the CPU will never hit 100% during gaming, even with bottlenecks, since games aren't built to use all cores (unlike the GPU, which is optimized for full utilization in games). Your 76% usage indicates your CPU is working hard, but it's not unexpected: you're using DLSS, which reduces the game's resolution and increases CPU load, along with ray tracing, which is also CPU-intensive (many assume it only affects the GPU, but it does too). What's your monitor refresh rate? Are you applying a FPS cap or using V-Sync (which limits your FPS to your monitor's refresh rate)?

146 FPS seems reasonable.

Your 165hz ECRN with G-synch seems fine, you're using it correctly. You don't need to disable it unless you have specific concerns.

I usually stick with G-Sync and if a game's frame rate matches my monitor's max refresh, I also turn on V-Sync. In fact, the best input latency without tearing comes from G-Sync + V-Sync + Nvidia Reflex, according to the source.

I was also curious about examining the 1% low to determine if it could be a significant bottleneck. What are your thoughts? If it is, what FPS would you need to maintain a solid experience?

The 1% low plays a key role when dealing with "smoothness" problems, such as stuttering. Even with a consistent average frame rate, if the 1% low often reaches very low levels you’ll notice these interruptions because latency spikes briefly. It creates a brief delay that can be quite bothersome, even if the pauses are as short as a blink (micro-stuttering). However, when the game runs consistently smoothly, these issues shouldn’t be a concern. If stuttering occurs, upgrading to a faster CPU can significantly reduce the impact of these low values.
