GPU Overclock resets each time the system shuts down. Solution?
I recently increased my GPU's overclock, achieved a solid result, and was satisfied. But when I powered down the PC and restarted it, my die and memory frequencies returned to their original settings. I didn’t notice it at first, but this occurred every time I shut it off and turned it back on. Could there be a specific setting in MSI Afterburner I need to enable for the overclock to remain active? I assumed it would stay enabled since it’s written into the card BIOS. The PC came with a Gainward overclocking utility, but I disabled it and still couldn’t maintain the boost. I also believe the previous owner didn’t overclock it, and it’s unlikely the builders did either, so that tool probably wasn’t necessary. Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?
This is not the correct approach. You need to set Afterburner to "Start with Windows" in properties and then click the Windows flag to apply these settings at startup.
NVidia driver 466.11 includes automatic overclocking and stress testing, but it depends on the cloud-powered GeForce Experience.
For cards with modded vBIOS values, using a newer card with different factory clocks can bypass the driver's code 43.
It isn't listed on the bios and you wouldn't want that to be the case
😆
Running MSI afterburner from Windows will get you going
