I own a 2021 zephyrus g15 equipped with the 3070 chipset. It hasn't quite delivered its full potential. Recently, I updated the thermal paste on the GPU because it was overheating, which resolved some problems but performance remains average. When playing Minecraft, I see between 30 to 40 frames per second at 40% GPU usage and 70 to 100 FPS with shaders enabled and 20% usage otherwise. Nothing approaches thermal limits, and power settings are maximized across all options (armorycrate/ghelper, Windows battery menu). In Afterburner it indicates the integrated graphics are using 8GB RAM, while in NVIDIA Control Panel and Helper the dedicated GPU is selected. In Minecraft it displays the 3070 as the active processor.
Check each core separately instead of relying on the total percentage. Minecraft runs on just one core, meaning it probably locks you out even if the overall stats seem okay.
Turn off your integrated GPU in Device Manager and check the results. Alternatively, configure the 3070 as the primary graphics card in the Nvidia control panel for the desired applications.
I attempted to turn off the igpu using helldivers. My second screen didn’t receive any input, the system felt much slower than a modern machine, steam would move toward the upper-right area, and the game failed to start while showing 2 frames per second.
You turned off the integrated graphics? The built-in graphics from your CPU? That suggests you disabled the 3070. If it wasn’t the GPU you turned off and you’re still experiencing low performance on your 3070, I’d suspect a hardware issue. If this were my setup, I’d reinstall Windows 11 and reset everything, eliminating any software problems. Even after a fresh install, if you keep having issues, it’s likely a system-level fault.
