GPU no Display output?
GPU no Display output?
Hey there! About six months ago I upgraded my PC with a new motherboard, RAM, and CPU. Since then, an odd issue has occurred. After logging into Windows, everything seems fine, but occasionally the GPU fails to spin its fans. They do spin during booting. The only solution so far is disconnecting the GPU from the power supply. Could this be related to MSI Afterburner? I also use some cable sleeves, but I’m not sure if they’re causing the problem, though it might be worth checking. Mostly this happens when I turn off and back on my PC, sometimes even after a day.
The card features a fan off mode that won't activate until the core temperature hits a specific level—around 50 to 60°C. This behavior is typical; fans usually start spinning up after the POST and shut down when logged in. If you configure a custom fan curve in Afterburner and enable AB during Windows startup, this changes the situation. Extensions also contribute to increased rail voltage droop, and power supply output tends to degrade over time. Considering both factors together, using the GPU without extensions is the first step. If that doesn’t help, replacing the current PCIe cables with newer ones might be necessary. If neither solution works, testing the GPU on another PC could provide clarity.
Everything is okay too. The power port also seems in good shape.
I don't have another PC nearby, which makes testing quite challenging.
Understood. Here are the adjustments:
- Proceed without the extensions.
- Employ more recent PCIe 6+2 cables included with the PSU.
So probably the extension cables are the issue. I took them out and did several restarts and shutdowns with some time in between before turning it back on, and everything worked again.
